Multidisciplinary Designer (Midweight)
Do you know your crop marks from your break points? Your DPI from your Figma components?
As a Multidisciplinary Designer at &us, you will design a range of solutions for clients and their customers. Because we’re an innovation and transformation consultancy, the work we do is broad and creative, so we’re looking for a designer who is happy to learn and try their hand at creating things they’ve not made before. You’ll be designing things you already love doing such as printed booklets, digital prototypes, decks and diagrams – and you will be excited to lean in and create something new: such as a video or a workshop experience.
We’re a friendly and curious team of innovators, looking for a fellow design optimist. We know that a diversity of backgrounds, experience and opinions builds the strongest multi-disciplinary design team, so encourage those from under-represented groups to apply.
📍Role based in Old St, London, with flexible working and opportunities to travel in the course of work.
What you’ll do
Design at &us is broad, really broad. We work with agility and our project deliverables are across all formats, so our backgrounds vary across the team: from 3D product designers to creative directors and UX specialists. We don’t expect you to know how to design everything, but we like people who are happy to learn and try their hand at creating things they’ve not made before.
- Co-creating IRL workshops and designing the assets required to bring them to the next level: printed booklets, wall charts, sets of cards – whatever will make the session memorable.
Creating a broad range of other assets that might include storyboards, diagrams, journey maps, timelines or anything else required to tell the right story. - Designing decks that tell project stories visually, in ways that make project outcomes and client-value clear. You’ll especially support the Transformation Team to create deck narratives or workshops in our brand, or a client’s brand.
- Working in an iterative way, towards clear briefs, testing and adapting designs as you go.
- Try out tools you’ve not used before (e.g. Miro, videography software and AI) to create visuals of concepts that might not exist yet.
- Looking for opportunities to improve our design work, such as better accessibility or to include more life-centred design approaches.
- Some project management is required because we don’t have account or project managers. Instead, we collaborate in agile sprints to make progress quickly.
Your experience
We need someone with agency or consultancy experience, who knows how to get hands-on with design work.
Essential
- 3+ years experience creating design deliverables across platforms.
- Knowledge of both print and digital, including the strengths and implications of choosing one over the other.
- Confident using Figma, PowerPoint, GSuite, Adobe and/or tools of your choice.
- A love of typography, information hierarchies and clear visual thinking.
- Fantastic communication skills (written, spoken, and presented).
- Experience with managing your own deadlines, and delivering good quality work within a project timeline. And the ability to ask for help when needed.
- Naturally collaborative, keen to give and take design critique constructively.
Nice to have
- Knowledge or curiosity for videography, illustration or 3D are always welcome.
- An eye on what’s coming: from life-centred design to the future of work.
- Involvement in design thinking workshops, sprints and user-centred design projects.
